Wetwheels Foundation

We provide fully accessible boating experiences for individuals of all abilities, including those with the most profound disabilities, across the Solent and surrounding areas.

We provide more than just boat trips as we encourage participants to take the helm, removing both actual and perceived barriers to help gain independence, learn new skills and let the sensory experiences the water offers broaden horizons. We are one of the few activities where whole families can share the same experience.

We operate a specially adapted powerboat that enables wheelchair users and individuals with varying physical and cognitive needs to actively participate in seafaring adventures. Wetwheels Foundation focuses on building confidence, independence, and social interaction through their tailored water-based experiences, which are inclusive and designed to empower participants.

A Wetwheels Foundation spokesperson, expressed their enthusiasm for the partnership:

“We are honoured to be named the beneficiary for such a renowned and iconic event as the Round the Island Race. This opportunity allows us to showcase the transformative power of accessible boating while connecting with the vibrant sailing community. Together, we can create more unforgettable moments on the water for those who might otherwise never have the chance.”
