THANK YOU FOR AN INCREDIBLE ROUND THE ISLAND RACE 2026

The finish line has now officially closed, bringing another fantastic Round the Island Race to an end.

A huge thank you to every competitor, spectator, volunteer, sponsor and member of staff who helped make today such a success. Your passion, dedication and support are what make this event so special.

We look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow at 12:00pm for the Prize Giving, and to seeing you all again for the Round the Island Race 2027 on 10 July. Safe travels, and thank you for being part of an unforgettable day!

25 MINUTES TO GO

There are now just 25 minutes until the finish line closes for boats still racing in the Round the Island Race 2026. Best of luck to all the crews making their final push to the line—we’ll be cheering every finisher home!

SUNSET AT THE RACE VILLAGE

As the sun sets over Cowes, the Race Village is buzzing with competitors, families and spectators enjoying the atmosphere after an incredible day on the water. With live entertainment, race updates on the big screen and the football just around the corner, the evening is getting started!

RUBYLL ROUNDS BEMBRIDGE

Rubyll has now rounded Bembridge and is the final boat in the fleet to pass this point on the course. With the whole fleet now through Bembridge, competitors continue their journey back towards Cowes and the finish line.

FLEET UPDATE

Less than 10 boats remain between Sandown Bay and Bembridge, with the rest of the fleet now making their way between Bembridge and Cowes.

ROUNDING THE NEEDLES

THE RACE VILLAGE IS OPEN

The Race Village on Cowes Parade is open all weekend, with free live entertainment and music on the main stage through to Sunday evening. You can also catch the latest race updates on the big screen, as well as tonight’s World Cup semi-final!

BEMBRIDGE LEDGE UPDATE

Around 20 boats are currently to the southeast of Bembridge Ledge as the fleet continues towards the finish. Conditions remain steady, with an easterly Force 4 breeze providing consistent sailing for competitors on this stretch of the course.

RYDE WIND UPDATE

The latest conditions off Ryde show an easterly breeze of around 10 knots. Boats on the final stretch of the course are continuing their approach towards Cowes, with a steady stream of finishers expected.

FLEET ENTERS THE FINAL STRETCH

The majority of the fleet still racing is now between Bembridge and Cowes, with competitors on the final stretch of the course. More boats are expected to cross the finish line over the coming hours as the Round the Island Race continues.

GOSPORT WIND UPDATE

The latest conditions from Gosport show an East-Southeasterly breeze of around 15 knots.

A SEA OF BOATS HEADING HOME

A sea of boats is now making their way towards the finish line, with some brightly colour spinnakers flying nicely. With the fleet continuing to arrive in Cowes, the finish line team is busy capturing every moment as competitors complete their Round the Island Race.

BEMBRIDGE RACE UPDATE

Around 362 boats have now passed Bembridge as the fleet continues its journey around the Island. Competitors are making steady progress round the course, with more boats still to come as the race continues.

JANGLE LEADS ISC OVERALL

The current leading boat on the tracker in ISC Overall, Jangle, is making great progress around the Island and is soon to pass Ryde. The fleet continues to spread around West Wight, with most boats still racing between Ventnor and Ryde.

STEADY STREAM UP TO BEMBRIDGE

A steady stream of boats is now making their way towards Bembridge, with the fleet continuing to progress around the Island.

THIS MORNING’S START LINE

RACE UPDATE FROM BEMBRIDGE

Around 40 boats have now passed Bembridge, with sailors enjoying fair weather and good visibility. Conditions in the area are currently an easterly Force 2 breeze, with a slight sea state as the fleet continues around the Island.

While the fleet continues to make its way home, our dedicated finish line team are on White Scene and ready to record boats as they cross the line. A huge thank you to everyone involved for their hard work, commitment and support in helping make the Round the Island Race happen!

FINISH LINE UPDATE

Gladiator is now approaching the North Finish Line after a fantastic race around the Island. The fleet continues to make its way home, with the majority of the fleet rounding St Catherine’s Point and beginning Section Three of the race.

FIRST FINISHER CROSSES THE LINE

Our first finisher of the Round the Island Race 2026 has crossed the finish line – Pace completed the race at 12:48:42. Congratulations to the team on an great race around the Island!

PACE MAKES HER APPROACH

Leading boat Pace can now be seen from Cowes with her spinnaker full, travelling at 13 knots as she makes her way towards the North Finish Line. The Volvo Open 70 is closing in on the finish after a fantastic race around the Island – keep watching as she makes her final approach!

PACE CLOSES IN ON THE FINISH LINE

Leading boat Pace is now making her way through Osborne Bay and will shortly be heading towards the finish line. After an sunny race around the Island, the Volvo Open 70 is nearing the final stages of the challenge. Stay tuned for the finish update!

BEMBRIDGE RACE UPDATE

10 boats have now passed Bembridge, with the fleet continuing through Section Three. The wind is currently shifting from northeast towards east and increasing slightly, providing changing conditions for boats making their way round.

THE NAV WIND UPDATE

The latest conditions off The Nav show an easterly breeze of around 15 knots. Boats heading towards the eastern end of the Island are continuing to make steady progress as they work through this section of the course.

UNO, LEADING MULTIHULL, APPROACHES SHANKLIN

Leading multihull Uno is now approaching Shanklin, currently travelling at around 6 knots. As conditions continue to change around the Island, the multihull fleet is pressing on through Section Three.

ST CATHERINE’S POINT WIND UPDATE

The latest update from St Catherine’s Point shows winds at around 10 knots, with conditions continuing to ease.

UPDATE ON LEADING BOAT – PACE

Leading boat Pace is now passing the forts and is expected to reach the finish line within the next 20 minutes, while the rest of the fleet continues to make steady progress around the course.

LEAD BOAT APPROACHES CULVER DOWN

Conditions at Culver Down are currently 7–8 knots from the East Northeast. The first boat now in sight is PACE (GBR70X), a Volvo Open 70, making impressive progress as she continues around the Island.

GLADIATOR MAKES GOOD PROGRESS

Gladiator is currently off Shanklin, travelling at 11 knots as she reaches the half way point of Section Three.

MULTIHULLS APPROACH THE END OF SECTION TWO

The multihull boats are making great progress around the course, with around 15 boats now visible on the tracker and the majority approaching the end of Section Two. The fleet continues to push on, with plenty of action still to come as the race unfolds.

ST CATHERINE’S POINT WIND UPDATE

The latest conditions at St Catherine’s Point: a north-easterly breeze, gusting up to 20 knots. The fleet continues to make its way around the Island, with sailors navigating the varying conditions across the course.

LAST BOAT CLEARS HURST NARROWS

The final few boats have now passed through Hurst Narrows, meaning the entire fleet is approaching the end of Section One of the course. It’s been a fantastic day of racing so far! Remember to tag us in your photos and videos from the day using #RTIR – we’d love to see your race moments.
