“This is a bucket list race”
Round the Island is more than just another yacht race for the team at Clipper Events.

Every year, Clipper Events gives people a weekend to remember with the full Round the Island experience.
From competing on board its impressive race yachts to savouring the build-up and post-race fun, Clipper Events views Round the Island as a must for any sailor.
“It’s exhilarating and there’s a real carnival atmosphere with Round the Island,” said Tom Myatt, Business and Events Manager at Clipper Events. “Our experiences are for sailors of all abilities, so Round the Island’s ‘Race for All’ ethos means it’s a perfect fit for us.
“There’s so much anticipation and excitement around this event, and finishing the race gives our crews such an amazing sense of achievement. Even though it takes place on the Solent, we often see big conditions on race day, providing a great challenge for those looking to test themselves.”
This year’s race could see up to 15 Clipper Events teams competing, including 11 Clipper 70 race yachts, crewed by employees of JP Morgan.
Other groups or individuals can book spaces on the Clipper 68s, which make up the Clipper class on the day. All parties enjoy pre-race training on the water the day before, ahead of a meal at the Island Sailing Club on the Friday night.
The action of race day follows, with more festivities and celebrations afterwards.
“Being at the Island Sailing Club – the home of Round the Island – feels special,” said Tom. “The meal and all the preparation set the tone for what’s to come and there’s a real buzz for everyone involved. We’re really excited about making this year’s Round the Island another truly memorable weekend for our participants.”
The long-standing relationship between the Island Sailing Club and Clipper Events has added further prestige to the Round the Island Race. The two organisations have now been working together for 15 years and share a commitment to making the Round the Island weekend a highlight for all.
Kate Case, General Manager at Island Sailing Club, said:
“We love welcoming the Clipper Events crews for the weekend and giving them the hospitality and race experience as one. As well as hosting the pre-race meal, we pack them all off with breakfast and lunch for the race too, which is a big operation for us but one we thrive on. The Clipper Events teams really embrace the whole weekend and help us make Round the Island the iconic event we love.”
